Overview

What is Labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a common surgical procedure that helps reduce the size of the labia minora or majora. Patients that suffer from an enlarged labia may experience discomfort while sitting, exercising, or during intercourse and may be self-conscious about the appearance of their labia. Many women live with discomfort, shame, embarrassment in relationship and may even avoid wearing tight-fitting clothing because of labial appearances. As a cosmetic gynecologist, I will ensure that your consultation, will educate as well as make you as comfortable as possible. We will also customize a surgical plan.

    What to Expect

Prior to surgery, you will have an appointment with Dr. Shepherd, this will give you an opportunity to address any questions or concerns you may have. It is important that you have a spouse, relative, or friend available prior to surgery that can help with any necessities you may need during recovery. The day of surgery, depending on the evaluation made by Dr. Shepherd (expert cosmetic gynecologist), the procedure will be performed in-office. During the operation, our goal is to focus on keeping you comfortable. Our team makes sure you have a positive and calming environment around you and that you do not feel pain. Once the procedure is complete, patients can expect to go home same day, and are given after care instructions and prescribed pain medication.

How Long Does Labiaplasty Procedure Take?
The surgery may take 2 to 3 hours, depending on complexity , detail of the planned procedure and the anatomy. We review all the incisions (labia reduction) with you prior to surgery and make sure the labia removal and clitoral hood, are carefully shaped.
